Children's Ministry at FUMC Wharton is a part of our larger Family Ministries. Our goal is to empower families to live faithfully as disciples of Jesus Christ, together. Our hope is to provide opportunities not just for children but for their entire family to come together in meaningful worship, study, and fun. Traditional church models leave families isolated or separated. At FUMC we want to help bring families together in fun, interactive, and transformative ways. By partnering with parents, building relationships with each member of the family, and creating opportunities for families to spend quality time together, we hope to build a faithful community that loves God and loves others.
One of the ways we do this is by connecting to each member of the family during worship! Whether your family is coming to in-person worship or joining us online you will find resources to help everyone navigate and get more out of worship and to engage in faithful conversations beyond Sunday morning.
At FUMC Wharton, we encourage children of all ages to join us in worship. Our kiddos are wanted and welcome in worship, and we want them to be singing, praying, and learning right alongside all of us as a part of the church family.
The Children's Message during worship helps kids and families prepare for the scripture and sermon for that day. Our desire is to help families connect to God and one another throughout our worship service.
Worship bags are available in the Narthex. The bags have everything you need to engage your children: a children's bulletin, coloring pages, coloring pencils and crayons, pipe cleaners, a fidget toy, and hand sanitizer.
We also offer Children's Church for kids age five through 5th grade and nursery child care for children under age 5.
Children's Church is a time for our children to grow in their knowledge of the Bible in age-appropriate ways. Kids will creatively engage with scripture and Christian teaching in ways that help them to learn about who God is and who they are as children of God!
After the Children's Message, kids may follow the Children’s Church leader to the Education Suite for a special kids-sized lesson. They will then return to the sanctuary to receive communion with their families.
For the littlest ones, parents may choose to use our nursery located in the education suite just outside of the sanctuary doors. An usher can help you find it, and our nursery staff will help you get your kiddo signed in and settled. Nursery is available every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. during Sunday school and worship.
